This may sound surprising, but I am a total creature of habit, especially when it comes to home decor. I find myself drawn to the same colors time and time again and while I always admire the beauty in others’ color wheels, I can never seem to branch out from my own. Well, when we moved into our home six years ago, our dining room was painted a deep blue color. It was so far outside of my decor comfort zone but I loved it and it felt fancy so I kept it. Well then I was stuck; I had no idea how to decorate a dark blue room. So I didn’t. At some point shortly before our small fire, we hung a mirror above the buffet, but then the mirror was accidentally broken by the cleaning crew so I was back to square one. Long story short, I finally decided to give up on the blue and went white. And I’m so glad I did. White is easy to decorate. Today I’m sharing our cozy white dining room makeover!
Getting to redo our bathroom planted the seed for me to redo our dining room and I love how bright it feels while also being cozy, too! I’ve been on a white decor kick lately so I knew this room would have a white palette. My absolute favorite feature in this room is the chandelier (which was also a great price, in my opinion). I saw it on one of my fave Instagram feeds and knew I had to have it, even though it’s so different than something I would have picked out in a store. That’s one of the great things about social media, am I right? It gives us insight and inspiration you may not have gotten otherwise! Anywho, I’m not sure if my dining room has a “theme” per se, since I combined elements from a few different styles but I feel like it’s a little traditional, a little farmhouse, and a little modern. So maybe a traditional modern farmhouse? I dunno, you tell me!

The wreath, wall mirrors, tray, flower arrangements, lantern, faux plants, photo frames, runner on the buffet, and “gather” sign are all from Home Goods (of course). The lamp is from Hobby Lobby as is the “Family Gathers Here” wall tapestry. Here are some similar lamps, too. The furniture is old but is from Ashley Furniture. The wall frames are from Michael’s. Finally, the paint color is “Ibis White” from Sherwin Williams.
