Seven Experience Gift Ideas for Him (or Her!)

Seven Experience Gift Ideas for Him (or Her!)

Experience gifts have become all the rage lately and will be very popular this holiday season. My husband, for instance, is the perfect candidate for an experience gift. He doesn’t want or need any specific thing; he much prefers to go out and do something instead of have something. I know he’s not alone in that so today I’m sharing seven experience gift ideas that the adventurous guy or gal in your life might love!

Seven Experience Gift Ideas for Him (or Her!)

Xtreme Xperience – Earlier this year, I wrote a post talking about what an amazing time we had when Xtreme Xperience came to Atlanta; Todd got to drive a Ferrari on a professional track! We loved it so much that we did it again when they came back in November and he got to drive a Lamborghini! They tried to get me to drive a car but I’m way too chicken. Check out this post to learn more about this unique exotic supercar experience! Check out what cities are on the Xtreme Xperience circuit here.

Indoor Skydiving – Skydiving is something I always wanted to do but now that I have kids, I’m a little more hesitant about it. That’s why indoor skydiving places like iFLY are great! My husband and I have been to iFLY twice (they have locations nationwide) and it was a lot of fun! If there’s no iFLY near you, I’m sure there’s something similar!

Flying Lessons – Admittedly, this is something we’ve never done but would be a ton of fun! My husband would love to try it, I’m sure. Me? Well, as noted above, I’m too much of a chicken. Depending on where you are, you can fly a plane or a helicopter. This website has lots of options for different cities and regions in the US.

Backpacking – Does the guy (or girl) in your life love the great outdoors? Send them on an amazing backpacking trip! REI organizes backpacking trips to places like the Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree, the Pacific Crest Trail, the Great Smokey Mountains, Whistler, and more!

Rock ClimbingREI also organizes rock climbing trips for men and women in the great outdoors but if the person on your list isn’t cut-out for such an extreme adventure, indoor rock climbing is a great place to start! A quick Google search will help you find an indoor rock climbing gym close to you.

Cruises – I have to say that cruises are one of my favorite ways to vacation. They’re fun, affordable, and you can do fun shore excursions when you port!

City Segway Tours – Even if you’ve lived in your city awhile, city segway tours are a fun way to explore in a new, fun way! They don’t require travel or accommodation expenses and it will be something fun to do together.

What experience gifts would you add to this list? Tell me your ideas below!

Skydiving would be so fun but I’m way too scared to now! I’ll stick to indoor!

This is INSANE!!! I wish there were places around me that did things like this! It snows so much of the year I’d have to wait for summer to do something like this with my husband! I saw your Instagram Stories on this and it looked really awesome!

These are so fun! Less a gift of a material item, and more about memories. I love gifts like this!

Hi Shannon! I love these ideas! I’m actually giving my husband the ‘nascar’ experience for Christmas this year (we live in Charlotte, NC). In the past, I’ve also given him flying lessons (only $100 at a local small airport), a weekend at the lake or beach ( has great deals if you plan way ahead), and car rentals through! is like airbnb for cars – I was able to rent my husband a tesla for a day (his dream car) for less than $100 – incredible! Oh – and concert tickets. Those are always a hit with him! Thanks for all of your posts! Love them! – Annika
