I stepped out of my comfort zone for today’s look from Mud Pie. Before I tell you what was outside of my comfort zone, let me tell you about Mud Pie. Mud Pie is a family-owned, Atlanta-based lifestyle brand that also has super adorable baby/kids and women’s boutique-style fashion! If you’ve ever purchased a super adorable baby item from a boutique, it was most likely from Mud Pie. That said, their women’s fashion line is a well-kept secret and I’m here to spread the word. What I love about Mud Pie’s pieces is that they are designed in-house (here in Atlanta!) and are high-quality, flattering staples. If you asked me to describe the aesthetic of their fashion, I would describe it as Southern Charm. So, back to stepping out of my comfort zone…
I pretty much never tuck in my shirt and if I do, it’s definitely not into a pair of fitted, high-waisted shorts. While I know I’m a thin girl, the biggest part of my body is my waist and I work pretty hard to hide it with my clothing choices. #MomLife, right? But these chambray scalloped shorts from Mud Pie were too cute to pass up! So I stepped out of my style box, went for it, and paired them with a light, airy, off-the-shoulder (OTS) top, versatile leather tassel necklace, and matching clutch – all from Mud Pie, of course. I was so pleasantly surprised by how flattering the shorts were and how they hid my mom-gut so well. The scallop detail is a bonus. I didn’t even wear shape wear under them! Score.
Side Note: I received my shoes as a gift from ShoeDazzle and I’m obsessed. Aren’t they so fun? They’re my new faves.
I often find myself drawn to simple pieces so that I can keep them around for a long time. You can’t go wrong with white or chambray, right? My shorts also come in white, by the way. You can’t tell because I tucked it in, but the shirt also has a great, long length to it. For reference, I am wearing a small in the shorts and the top. Oh and by the way, Mud Pie offers free shipping for orders over $75 [insert praise hands emoji].
As you can see from my photos, the shorts do tend to wrinkle during normal wear but that’s to be expected with chambray. Wrinkles match motherhood perfectly so it’s all good, am I right? I admit, though, that I haven’t worn either of these pieces around my girls yet; I love both and am terrified my kids will ruin them. 🙂[Huge thanks to DreamDry Atlanta for my hair & make-up!]
