Five Benefits of Getting Out of the House Everyday for Stay at Home Moms

I’m 3.5 months into my new gig as an at-home mom (I purposely remove the word “stay” from “stay at home mom”) and I have learned a lot about myself and my kids in that amount of time. While it still feels like a vacation compared to the rat-race of my working-mom-life, I can easily see how and why many stay-at-home moms become lonely, exasperated, and frustrated. I have already had my fair share of days where I felt at least one, if not all, of those emotions. Being home with my children is one of the best gifts I have ever received. But just like any valued treasure, their is maintenance and care that comes with it. One of the things I quickly figured out is how important it is for my girls and I to get out of the house every single day. Here are 5 benefits I’ve found.

Girls’ Dream Playroom Makeover: Part 2

Eek! It’s finally here! I’m so excited to be able to share Part 2 of my girls’ dream playroom makeover. If you haven’t seen Part 1 yet, stop reading, go take a look, and then come back here. If you have seen Part 1 then you know that I had so much fun creating this space and am so proud of myself for having conjured it all up in my head without being able to see it live. That’s a huge win for me. So, I know you don’t want to hear me blab about it anymore so let’s just go take a look, shall we?

You Might be a Toddler Mom if…

Toddlerhood has it’s fair shares of ups and downs. The ups of raising toddlers are way up and the downs are way down. The terms “terrible twos” and “threenager” (who are technically “preschoolers” but I still call toddlers) exist for a reason. Life has a way of slowly conditioning us moms to brave the tantrums and battles and embrace the snuggles of toddlers, even if they seemingly sneak up on us. Toddlers are forming their own (strong) opinions and pushing limits. They’re exploring the world in a new way and testing your patience while they’re at it. They’re the perfect combination of sugar and spice and find a way to make you love them uncontrollably while wanting to sell them to the circus all at the same time. Today I’ve teamed up with Cottonelle Mega Rolls and the convenience of Wal-Mart’s Grocery Pick-Up (Save $1!) to let you know you might be a toddler mom if…

Girls’ Dream Playroom Makeover: Part 1

Fact: I’m not an interior designer/decorator. I often get compliments on my home’s decor and am proud of our space but the process to get to that point is always a long, stressful one. I’m very visual and very indecisive. I’m notorious for buying a ton of options, seeing them in the space at hand, and then taking it all back. That said, I am so excited about this room for a couple different reasons. The first reason is that it has easily become the prettiest spot in our home and my girls’ favorite, which totally works out for me since it’s upstairs and they can leave me alone play up there quietly. The second reason is because 90% of its contents were ordered online, which means I wasn’t able to see it all in the space before committing to it. Y’all, that means that I had a vision and it came out almost-exactly how I had planned! Seriously a milestone for me. Because this dream playroom makeover was a total overhaul and I want to show you all of it, I decided to break the reveal into two parts. Today I’m sharing Part 1.

How We Enjoy Summer Without Leaving Home

It’s summer, which means I spend my days trying to walk the delicate balance between keeping my cool inside in the AC and encouraging my girls to seize the day and enjoy the great outdoors. I don’t know about you but I overheat pretty easily. Luckily, so does my oldest; she’s usually the one to tell me she’s hot and it’s time to go inside (score!). Thankfully, I’ve discovered the fun #PerrierFlavors to help keep me cool and refreshed this summer. I know some moms feel like they need to constantly entertain their kids or keep them on-the-go all summer but not this mom. Here are some ways we enjoy summer without leaving home.

Four Ways I Make Sure My Toddler Gets Nutrition

Raise your hand if you have no idea how your toddler survives off so few calories per day like mine. I mean, the kid doesn’t eat. It’s amazing and I kind of wish I could pull her habits off myself. In my 4.5 years of being a mom, though, I’ve picked up a few lessons on getting my kids to eat. One of my tricks would probably be considered bad parenting but sometimes you do what you have to do to make it work, am I right? Here are 4 ways I make sure my toddler gets nutrition.

Upgrade Your Wardrobe with Rocksbox

Confession: I have an addiction to jewelry. Sure, I love 18k gold and diamonds but I kind of have jewelry A.D.D. so I try to avoid buying expensive pieces and opt for stylish, cost effective options instead. I love being able to spruce up any outfit – even a plain white tee –  with just a cute necklace and/or set of earrings. Jewelry has a way of completely changing the vibe of an outfit. That’s probably why I love it so much; it’s like an instant wardrobe upgrade. I recently discovered Rocksbox which is perfect for jewlery-aholics like me.

Road Trip Tips for Kids

It’s summertime, which means families all over the country are hitting the road to visit family, tourist attractions, theme parks, beaches, and everything in between! I personally try to avoid taking my girls (ages 2.5 and 4.5) on trips longer than 4-5 hours but I know there are a lot of parents out there who are way braver than me and go longer distances. A few weeks ago, we hit the highway to visit Greenville, SC, to celebrate my sister-in-law’s engagement. My kids were angels and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. Today I’m sharing how we road trip with our kids.
