Have I ever mentioned how much I love being a mom of two girls? Growing up, I used to say that I always wanted to have one boy and one girl – one of each to make up the perfect family. I wanted the boy to be older so he could have his little sister’s back. When I was pregnant with A, though, I wanted a girl so badly. In fact, at her gender reveal ultrasound, I thought that the tech thought she was a boy and I was super sad about it; gender disappointment is a real thing. When it was time for #2 to come along, I knew I wanted another girl – a sister for my A, despite my previous wants for one of each. As it turns out, my husband wanted another girl, too. The two of us are now smitten girl parents and neither of us can imagine having boys. There are so many reasons I love being a girl mom so today I’m sharing five.
Dance Parties
I’m sure boys love to have dance parties, too, but my daughters love to dance in the living room with me. We do it at least once per day and it’s so fun. I love to twirl them around in circles and they love it, too. Although I’m not a musician (I have zero talent), I am obsessed with music and I love that my littles share that love with me.
Karaoke Partners
What goes hand-in-hand with dance parties? Singing at the top of our lungs, of course! My 4 year old is finally at the age where she really gets into songs – she recognizes them and sings along. Bruno Mars and Meghan Trainor are our current favorites. One of my few talents in life is being able to learn the lyrics to like every song after hearing it only a couple times – and then I never forget them. I think A is inheriting that from me [insert praise hands emoji]. I’m sure boys do this, too, but there’s something about a 3-girl singalong that makes my heart happy.
Princesses
I feel like this goes without saying but I’m going to say it anyway. My girls are girly girls. They love all things pink and frill and I love every second of it. Of course that means that they love princesses and ballerinas. A’s first day of ballet was one of the highlights of my life thus far. Being a mom of girls – girly girls – means that I get to relive my own childhood days of Disney princesses, fairy wands, and plastic jewelry. I must say, it’s more fun the second time around.
BFF’s
I love having two daughters because they are best friends to one another. They might not always be but I really hope they are! They fuss and fight, of course, but the love my girls have for each other is unparalleled. Seeing them together is the sweetest thing and I hope that it lasts forever. Not only are they each other’s best friend, they’re my little BFF’s, too! Sure, I’m their parent first, but I love that I have two little friends to have fun with and do “girl things”. My girls already love to shop, get their nails done, and eat junk food – so we’re destined to be besties forever.
Fashion
Now this is for sure something I know that girl moms can say way more than boy moms. The clothes!! Shopping for my girls is my weakness; it’s my husband’s weakness, too – even more so than mine. It’s rare that I’m the one saying “we don’t need that” in stores but I say it to my husband every time we go clothes shopping for them. Someone has to be the voice of reason, after all. There are so many adorable brands out there to choose from, all with super cute girl clothes. So many dresses and sweet outfits.
Are you a girl mom? What are your reasons for loving it? Tell me in the comments!
It must be so nice to have the girls for each other. We do some of these things with my son too. He loves Dance parties.

It really is! Dance parties with little boys are super fun, too!
Those dresses are adorable! I’m secretly hoping #2 is a girl. I’m a total girl mom! I love pink and frilly and dress up! I don’t know what I would do with a boy. Ha

Thanks, girl! Haha I feel the same way!
This is such a sweet post! I’m one of two girls and my sis and I are still best friends – it’s the best! And yeah – singing, dancing, fashion, who wouldn’t want that?! Have a great weekend!

I love being a girl mom! Mine is dramatic AF but nothing beats the dress up and princess phase!

Girl my oldest is dramatic, too, but it’s definitely a fun age!
Girl clothes are the absolute best part of having a girl LOL!

Totally is!! LOL

Thanks, girl! It’s so fun!!
I agree with all of these. My daughter told me the other night that I was her best friend ever when I was tucking her in for the night. My heart melted.

Ah! That’s total heart-melt-worthy! Thanks for reading!
Their little dresses are so cute! I think most people end up being so happy with what they end up with! I love having boys and girls… girls clothes are lots of fun though!

You’re so right. If I had a boy I’m sure I would LOVE having a boy! 😂
My husband and I totally wanted a boy. When we imagined our little family, we just always pictured ourselves with two sons. So going into our anatomy ultrasound, I was super worried that I’d be disappointed if they told me it was a girl. Well, it happened. They told us we were having a girl and surprisingly, I was THRILLED. The doctor left the room to grab something and I completely broke down in tears looking at the sonogram photos because she was just so perfect in every way. I’m now 36 weeks along and am more than ready for her to be here already 🙂 we’re so excited!

Ah! So exciting!! Congratulations, girl!! Girls are so fun!!
Those outfits are too cute! If I can have both a girl and a boy I will be so happy haha.

I used to feel the same way and now I’m #teamgirl all the way! In fact, when my husband and I see crazy little boys running around we always comment on how glad we are to have girls. 😂
I agree and disagree hahah….yes you are right Gender disappointment is definitely real. I cried like a baby when i found out my second was a boy because i never had a sister and i wanted so badly for my daughter to have a sister to bond with. She has a 22 year old sister however the age gap is so big and they live on the other side of the country so i really wanted my second to be a girl. ………..needless to say my son is such a joy and that mom/son bond is fantastic. Having a daughter is equally amazing though …the dress…the frill ….all that….fantastic! Until ….they turn 9 and start early puberty and one minute I’m the best mom ever and the next minute she hates me …and hates pink …and hates dresses….and hates every one hahahaha!
I guess that’s hormones for ya! Although I still she eventually gets a baby sister

NINE?! Oy. I’m not ready. LOL
I’m not looking forward to teenage years or paying for weddings – that’s for SURE.
We are thinking about starting our family in 2018 sometime and I pray I get to be a girl mom! I have two sisters and my husband has two brothers and I have heard typically it follows the dads family, but i hope that isn’t true!
Author
I’ve never heard that! So interesting!
Such cute dresses! I swear girl clothes are the CUTEST! That was the main reason I wanted a baby girl, I’ll be honest. But I got a boy instead… Still love dressing him up though!
Author
Thanks! I love boy clothes that look like men’s clothes but little – that’s always so cute to me! Whereas with girls, I love clothes that look like little girls’ clothes. Funny how that works, isn’t it? Thanks for reading!
She is so cute! I love her little dresses!
Author
Thank you! My girls love dresses!
Their little dresses are so cute! I agree with all of this except my son loves to do most of these things too. We all have a dance party every night after dinner and he will scream the frozen song at the top of his lungs. 🤦🏻♀️ But there still is nothing like a little girl clothes 👗

Thank you so much! Haha I would love to see that!
