Breastmilk Storage Guidelines

Breastmilk Storage Guidelines

One of my biggest headaches when I first started breastfeeding and pumping was about breastmilk storage. It felt like everything I saw online and everything veteran mamas told me was in contradiction with each other and I ended up having to figure it out for myself. That said, I recently stumbled upon an infographic created by Kaylaa Bags that is very closely aligned to what I did back when I was a breastfeeding, pumping mama so I thought I would save you a headache and share it here with you! Enjoy!

Breastmilk Storage Guidelines

We actually bought a deep chest freezer just so I could build a milk stockpile and I was so grateful for the extra space and the extra milk! What was/is the most confusing and/or hardest part of breastfeeding for you? Tell me below!

This is awesome. I have mine stored in the deep freezer in my garage. My husband complains though because we are still running out of room!

Whoa! That’s awesome! I found an entire box of milk I forgot about at the bottom of my freezer when my youngest was like 18 months old. It was about to hit a year old and I definitely gave it to her even though she wasn’t nursing anymore! Can’t let that gold go to waste!

I’ve actually given my almost 3 year old some milk I had in the fridge when she was sick recently lol seemed to help her feel better.

Yes! I used to do that, too! I would give my older one BM as soon as I saw signs of sickness! I would mix it with her cow’s milk so she didn’t get used to the sweetness of the BM.

That’s a great idea, I never thought to mix it with regular milk

Thank you so much for sharing this! As someone who is currently nursing my third child, but never really had to pump, I was totally clueless about how to properly store my milk and create a stash, so this is really helpful!

We have an extra freezer in the garage which held over 400 ounces of my milk … all which my youngest hated. So I donated it to a friend!
