So, I’ve been talking a lot about new beginnings lately and I must say that adjusting to the newness of my life these days has been more challenging than I thought it would be in some areas. I always knew that SAHM’s often don’t get a chance to eat but I thought surely I wouldn’t have that problem on my days home because my kids are more self-sufficient than babies. Wrong! I’ve actually had people at work ask me if I’ve lost weight because my face looks thinner. My response is always that I’m on the “mom diet” – being so busy with my kids that I often skip meals. However, skipping meals and snacking on junk throughout the day (my normal routine these days) isn’t a sustainable lifestyle so I’ve found some healthy snacks and a superfood meal replacement from Viance Nutrition to help keep me nourished and control my mom diet throughout my busy at-home days.

Making the decision to put my career on hold was not an easy one. Getting to the place where I was ready to actually make said decision was the hard part. That’s kind of how it is with a boyfriend, right? You just kind of skirt along knowing things aren’t working out, but you’re just not ready to call it quits yet. You tell yourself, He can change! Things will get better. I’ll never find anyone better than him. Maybe I’m the problem! Maybe if I do this, or try this, or do that… etc. etc. Blah. Blah. Blah. We’ve all been there, ladies. Being a happily married woman, though, I thought I would never be there again. Until I was. Until I found myself breaking up with my decade-long career.

There’s something so sweet about Valentine’s Day, isn’t there? I used to love giving out Valentine’s cards as a kid at school and would anxiously wait to see how many I got and from whom. Such sweet memories. I love being able to relive that now through A, and soon through E. My husband isn’t a huge Valentine’s fan so I love having my girls that will be excited with me. Recently, I posted about the many Valentine’s Day gift and card options from Minted – something for everyone – and today I’m excited to share my picks with you!

Veggies. We all need them but most of us probably don’t get enough of them in our daily diets. For us adults, it’s probably due to busy schedules and always being on-the-go. For kids, it’s most likely due to being picky eaters and/or being too busy playing to eat. I’m currently in the throes of my non-eating toddler; it’s a wonder how she can even function since she never eats. All of that said, I’m so happy to have found something that hides veggies in delicious, convenient muffins that can be eaten on-the-go! It’s a win-win for everyone!

I’ve been asked a few times what changes we are making as a family to afford my taking a step away from the workforce. After all, we will soon be living off of less than half of our annual income. We are very fortunate in that my husband’s salary is enough for us to live off of without mine; that hasn’t always been the case. That being said, there are still changes we need(ed) to make in order to adjust to a new lifestyle. Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t live lavishly by any means. Being millenials, we’re strapped with a whole lot of debt, mostly from Sallie Mae, who just so happens to be my arch nemesis and owns my soul until 2032. So, while these decisions are never one-size-fits-all and our situation may be vastly different than yours, today I’m sharing the changes we’ve made to make one income work for us.
