I’m in this weird in-between stage of life where I don’t need a full diaper bag but I also have to keep a good amount of kid stuff with me at all times. While I no longer carry an actual diaper bag, I do keep one in my car at all times. In it is a change of clothes for both of my girls, extra diapers, bug spray, sunscreen, and other random things I may need at a moment’s notice but don’t actually need at all times, if that makes sense. I usually carry a tote-sized purse to hold my stuff along with my toddler’s. We’re on-the-go a lot these days, so I’ve become a pro at grabbing the must-haves as we run out the door. Here’s what’s in my toddler bag:

It’s 3:15 PM. My kids are napping. I just took a shower and brushed my teeth for the first time today and am currently eating a Hot Pocket for lunch. Wait, did I eat breakfast today? It’s been a rough one. Today was another one of those days.

My husband is one of the hardest people in the world to shop for. He’s not a complicated guy, quite the opposite actually; he’s pretty simple (not in the dumb sense, in the low-maintenance sense). Fancy things are lost on him unless said fancy things are firearms or fishing rods, neither of which he needs. Real talk. So when I ask what he wants for [insert all gift-giving holidays] he literally always says, “nothing”. I mean, we’re the kind of people who just go out and buy whatever we need. And, before I left my job, we always went out and bought what we wanted (within reason), too. What I love about Todd, though, is that he values experiences over things any day of the week. So when I caught wind of the Xtreme Xperience, I knew that he would love it. And I was right. Although our day at the track was just this past weekend, Todd actually received the Xtreme Xperience as his birthday gift back in March and he could barely contain himself, having to wait so long to use it. Xtreme Xperience travels a circuit around the US so they’re always somewhere different. So, we had to wait awhile for them to come back to Atlanta. Here’s how our day unfolded.

Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of when I hit “publish” on my first blog post here in this little spot of the web. My blogiversary. In some ways it feels like I started a few weeks ago. In other ways I feel like I’ve been doing this forever. But life is so different now. So much has changed.
